Gears

We offer a selection of sizes and types in both imperial and metric pitches.

Spur Gear example

Spur Gears

Spur gears are the most commonly used type of gear. They have straight teeth and are used to transmit motion between parallel shafts. Gears with different numbers of teeth can be combined to give speed reductions/increases between the shafts. Note: Gear combinations should have the same tooth pitch e.g. 1mod + 1mod. We sell metric and imperial pitch spur gears in both plastic and brass. Our plastic spur gears are optionally available with brass inserts and set screws to easily secure them to a shaft.

Bevel Gear example

Bevel gears

Bevel gears are used to transmit motion through 90 degrees on intersecting shafts that are at a right angle to one another. We offer bevel gears sold as matching pairs in a range of ratios from 1:1 to 1:5. Our plastic bevel gear sets are optionally available with brass inserts and set screws for easy securing to a shaft.

Rack Gear example

Gear racks

Gear racks are designed to work with spur gears of a matching tooth pitch to convert rotational movement into linear movement or vice versa. We offer racks in both plastic and brass.
